La Isus doar, privește

O, suflet ce zaci sub povară
Trudit ești în noaptea cea grea;
Privește spre Domnul vieții,
Lumină prin El vei avea!
La Isus doar, privește,
Să vezi necurmat Fața Sa!
Și umbrit va fi tot ce-i trecător,
De lumina și gloria Sa!
Din moarte la viață eternă
Pe Domnul de-acum Îl urmăm;
Cel rău nu mai are putere,
Prin har biruință avem!
El tot ce-a promis împlinește,
Deci crede în tot ce ți-a spus!
Și celor pierduți le vestește
Salvarea venită de sus!

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus
by Helen H. Lemmel, 1922
Public Domain

O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!

Refrain:
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!

His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!

Povestea din Spate (EN)

This hymn was first published in Glad Songs, by the British National Sunday School Union. Its lyrics were inspired by the Gospel tract Focused, by Lilias Trotter, which included these words:

So then, turn your eyes upon Him, look full into His face and you will find that the things of earth will acquire a strange new dimness.
